Altdorf UR opened the educational and entertaining "Tellsweg" trail on Thursday. The one and a half kilometer long trail leads from the train station to the village center and tells the story of how William Tell shot the bailiff Gessler in the hollow alley.

If you want to walk the twelve stations, you should have a smartphone with a QR reader with you, as there are also games to play - for example with the infamous Gessler hat - or music to listen to - namely the overture to Gioachino Rossini's "William Tell".
However, the trail not only provides information about Tell, but also about buildings that can be seen on the march and about Uri themes. One station is dedicated to traffic over the Gotthard, another to the artist Heinrich Danioth (1896-1953), who painted the red devil on the rock above the Devil's Bridge in the Schöllenen.
The municipality of Altdorf realized the trail to mark the 125th anniversary of the Tellspielgesellschaft Altdorf. The project was supported by Altdorf businesses, Uri Tourismus AG and a contribution from the new regional policy (NRP).
