Guy Vallat is the Swiss defense attaché in Paris, but only until mid-July.

It was only in mid-June that a divisional officer from western Switzerland had to leave his post. Now another high-ranking Swiss army officer, Guy Vallat, has stumbled through the personal security check.
Things remain unsettled in Viola Amherd's defense department. Guy Vallat is the second divisional officer within a month to fail the personal security check. Vallat, Swiss defense attaché in Paris, had to resign from all his duties as early as July 15, according to a brief memo from the Defense Department.
As part of a properly conducted personal security check (PSP), officer Vallat "could not be issued with a security clearance". However, this is mandatory in order to be able to perform the duties of a defense attaché. Federal authorities are currently working on clarifying the situation in terms of employment law.
Guy Vallat was awarded the rank of divisional officer in spring 2024. The 56-year-old, who comes from the canton of Jura, was commander of the logistics training unit before taking up the post of defense attaché in Paris.
It was announced on June 10 that Mathias Tüscher, a divisional officer from French-speaking Switzerland, would have to vacate his post. According to Blick, the Federal Chancellery had accused him of "lack of integrity" and "susceptibility to blackmail" and considered him a security risk.
