At 8.20 a.m., a walker saw from a distance that flames were coming out of a barn door on the farm above the village of Ueken. She immediately informed the farmer's family, who drove the cattle out of the barn with the help of neighbors.
A large contingent of several fire departments managed to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to the barn and the straw store. Neither people nor animals were harmed, according to the police. The material damage to the building, machinery and vehicles is extensive, but cannot yet be quantified.
