Bernese SVP city councillor Alexander Feuz is deliberately circumventing the city's 12-year term limit. To this end, he is stepping down from the city council with immediate effect in order to run again "with his usual vigor" in the elections in autumn 2024.

Feuz is an "animal politique", said the SVP Stadt Bern, explaining the unusual move. Hardly anyone has taken to the microphone in Bern City Hall more than him and hardly anyone has submitted more initiatives. The lawyer is regarded as a notorious fast-talker with entertaining qualities.

At the end of the year, he would be subject to the term limits of the Bern City Council. He is therefore leaving his seat to Stephan Ischi, a finance and investment expert and entrepreneur, who is moving up.

Janosch Weyermann will take over the chairmanship of the parliamentary group, as the party also announced.
