The "Mooinz" bike rental service run by the Pro Velo Graubünden association is being expanded after one year of operation in Chur. An additional station has been opened at Chur train station, according to a press release. Those responsible are now planning a gradual expansion beyond the city limits.

16,000 journeys were made within the first year of operation, Pro Velo Graubünden wrote in a press release on Monday. After a nine-month pilot phase, the association expanded the service to 20 urban stations in July. This has now been followed by another one at Chur station.

Initially, the pilot got off to a slow start. Because there were only a few stations, the number of users was very limited. A dense network of stations is therefore necessary, according to the association. Bicycles may only be parked there. Anyone who disregards this must pay a fine.

In the coming years, Pro Velo Graubünden plans to expand bike rental beyond Chur into the Rhine Valley. Project manager Simon Wahl was quoted as saying that the first interested municipalities are already in contact. However, the Chur municipal council will first decide in October whether further stations will be added in the cantonal capital and whether three existing stations (Obertor, GBC and Brambrüaschbahn) can be continued.
