Following the storm on Monday evening, BLS Schifffahrt boats will not be able to call at the landing stage in Brienz until further notice. There are no restrictions for the company on Lake Thun following the thunderstorm.

The landing stage in Brienz is under a layer of mud about 50 centimetres thick, said Andri Largiadèr from BLS Schifffahrt on Wednesday evening at the request of Keystone-SDA. The landing stage will therefore remain out of service until at least Sunday evening. He was confirming a report in the Tamedia newspapers. At the moment, no more precise forecast can be given.

According to Largiadèr, for this reason the courses on Lake Brienz are currently only running as far as Giessbach. BLS Schifffahrt has not recorded any restrictions on Lake Thun because there was no driftwood there, according to Largiadèr.

However, the motor vessel Bubenberg was caught in the storm on Lake Thun on Monday evening. It had had to head for the harbor in Spiez and wait out the storm there, said Largiadèr. The passengers were able to return to Thun on the motor vessel Stadt Thun.

At the request of the railroad company BLS, BLS Schifffahrt ran a special course from Interlaken to Thun on Monday evening after the storm, bringing around 700 stranded people - mainly tourists - to Thun. "Because all trains were canceled and the roads were no longer passable, the boat was the only remaining means of transport," said Largiadèr. The boat arrived in Thun around midnight.
