Lottery Fund Canton of Bern donates 2.9 million for development cooperation

The Bernese government has approved a contribution of CHF 2.9 million from the lottery fund for development cooperation abroad. The 21 projects supported are intended to meet basic needs and improve living conditions.

Among other things, the money will go towards projects to combat and treat leprosy outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo and India, as the government council wrote in a statement on Thursday. Other contributions will go towards healthcare in Ethiopia and a project in Burkina Faso aimed at restoring soil fertility in the long term.
