The second projection of the Canton of Lucerne budgets a profit of CHF 274.4 million for the current year. This is over 136 million francs more than forecast in June.

Tax revenues are around 113.5 million francs higher than the first projection in June, the Lucerne State Chancellery announced on Wednesday. The canton expects additional revenue of CHF 212.2 million from legal entities and CHF 73.4 million more tax revenue from natural persons. It is forecasting lower revenues of CHF 41.3 million for the share of federal revenues.

"This renewed increase in revenue is very pleasing for the canton of Lucerne," Finance Director Reto Wyss (center) is quoted as saying in the press release. Despite the good starting position, however, the development of expenditure must continue to be planned with caution, according to the cantonal government.

The second projection is therefore CHF 136 million better than the first projection. Compared to the 2024 budget, the difference is even over CHF 290 million.

The result of the annual financial statements will be communicated in March of next year.
