The canton of Nidwalden is donating CHF 20,000 to areas in the cantons of Valais, Ticino and Graubünden that have been hit by storms. The amount will be taken from the lottery fund and paid into Swiss Solidarity.

The donation is a sign of solidarity, the State Chancellery announced on Wednesday. "The images of the destruction have gotten under our skin", explained Finance Director Michèle Blöchliger (SVP) in the press release. It was particularly tragic that people had lost their lives in the floods.

Swiss Solidarity is concentrating on providing emergency aid to people in the areas most affected by the storm. According to the State Chancellery, this enables critical shortages to be bridged quickly and unbureaucratically.
