Several communities in Central Switzerland announced their support for mountain communities hit by storms on Friday. The city of Zug is donating CHF 200,000, the canton of Uri CHF 25,000 and the Roman Catholic Church of the canton of Lucerne CHF 20,000.

The Zug City Council intends to apply to the Grand Municipal Council for a corresponding supplementary credit, as it announced. The municipality of Lostallo in the southern Graubünden valley of Misox is to receive direct aid of CHF 50,000. CHF 75,000 each is to be paid into the "Patenschaft für Berggemeinden" and "Glückskette", which support the areas hit by the storm.

The canton of Uri is also donating its contribution to Swiss Solidarity. The donation from the Lucerne Catholics will go to Caritas Switzerland. This organization is currently providing emergency aid in Misox in Graubünden, according to the cantonal church, which has around 200,000 Swiss francs per year at its disposal for emergency aid.

The storms have caused extensive damage in Ticino, Valais and Graubünden over the past two weeks. Several people lost their lives and many had to leave their homes.
