The "Maria vom Berg" building, the former nursing home of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, can be used for a limited period of two years, the Zug government announced on Tuesday. The premises are currently being prepared for a gradual move in September.
The situation in the canton remains tense and accommodation capacities are increasingly reaching their limits, cantonal councillor Andreas Hostettler was quoted as saying in the press release. The additional places for families, couples and individuals of all nationalities are urgently needed.
The canton is expecting up to 20 additional pupils due to the new accommodation, the statement continued. In the so-called integration classes, the pupils learn German and are prepared for integration into mainstream school.
There will be an information event for the people of Menzingen on August 28 at 7 p.m. before the accommodation opens.
