A driver was injured in a spectacular collision on the A1 highway near Oftringen AG on Thursday. The car he hit tipped onto its side, according to the Aargau cantonal police.

The accident between the two cars occurred at 11.30 a.m. in the direction of Bern. A 40-year-old driver drove past several cars on the emergency lane and crashed into the crash barrier, according to the police.

The 40-year-old was taken to hospital by ambulance, while the 64-year-old was uninjured. According to the cantonal police, several tens of thousands of francs worth of damage was caused to vehicles and road equipment.
