In future, retired married couples should receive two AHV pensions like unmarried people and no longer receive a maximum of one and a half times the maximum pension. The National Council committee responsible wants to oppose this proposal to the initiative against the AHV marriage penalty.
The bill on the reform of survivors' pensions was approved by the Social Affairs and Health Committee (SGK-N) by 13 votes to 12, as reported by the parliamentary services on Friday. The new provisions are to become an indirect counter-proposal to the "Yes to fair AHV pensions for married couples too" initiative of the Center Party.
However, the provisions will only apply to future pensioners. In the case of current pensions, the majority would like to retain the married couple's ceiling. There are minority motions to raise the upper limit for married couples to 175 percent.
There should no longer be a widow's supplement for new AHV and IV pensioners. The majority also no longer want to pay out old-age children's pensions. For pensions already in payment, the children's pensions should remain in place.
