The Compensation Office of the Canton of Solothurn (AKSO), which has been managed on an interim basis following crises, is to have a new manager. At the suggestion of the AKSO Board of Directors, the cantonal government has appointed Steven André Ryser as the new Managing Director, as announced by the State Chancellery on Tuesday.

The 59-year-old lawyer with a degree in business administration, who lives in the greater Zurich area, will take up his post on November 1. "To a certain extent, this is a wheel change on a moving vehicle", said Rodolphe Dettwiler-Müller, President of the AKSO Board of Directors, in a press release. The compensation fund, which has been managed on an interim basis since October, is in the midst of a far-reaching change process.

The new managing director is ideally equipped for his task, it continued. He has been Director of the Thurgau Social Insurance Center in Frauenfeld since 2015.

The AKSO was criticized for a long time due to the mountain of pending cases. In some cases, applications for supplementary benefits were no longer processed within the statutory deadlines, which meant that claimants were unable to pay their bills. As a result, not only the management but also the entire Board of Directors resigned.
