A van driver collided with several objects on the side of the road between St. Antönien GR and Luzein GR late on Sunday evening. The police finally stopped him with a completely demolished vehicle. They classified the 63-year-old as unfit to drive and ordered a blood test.

Two people alerted the operations center after 10.15 p.m. on Sunday evening, the Graubünden cantonal police wrote in a statement on Monday. They reported banging noises that sounded as if a vehicle had collided with an object.

Shortly before 1.00 a.m., the police in Luzein GR checked a 63-year-old driver who was responsible on his way to Küblis GR, the statement continued. The unroadworthy man was driving his van with a completely demolished wheel on the rim and a completely damaged front axle.

According to investigations by the Graubünden cantonal police, the man had previously collided with a stone outside the road in St. Antönien. The tire must have been slashed in the process. In Luzein, he drove into a construction site barrier, a concrete pillar and a fence.
