A fire broke out in the basement of an apartment building in Solothurn on Saturday evening. There was considerable damage to property, but no one was injured.

According to the Solothurn cantonal police on Sunday, a resident noticed the fire at around 8 p.m. and alerted the fire department. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

Two people who were in the house were exposed to smoke fumes. They were examined on site by the emergency services. The cause of the fire was investigated by police specialists. The main cause was a technical defect in an appliance.
