The faster expansion of domestic hydropower, solar and wind power remains controversial. Parliament wants to limit complaints against such projects and replace compensatory measures for protected areas with a levy. There is loud criticism from both the right and the left.

Parliament agrees that approval procedures for the construction of renewable energy plants should be speeded up. However, it is still unclear how this should be done.
The National Council and Council of States have reached agreement on important points. For example, the right of associations to lodge complaints against renewable energy generation projects is to be restricted. In addition, protected areas that fall victim to the construction of energy plants should no longer have to be replaced. Instead, the National Council is proposing a replacement levy.
It is highly questionable whether the bill will ultimately achieve a majority. The SVP generally considers the energy transition a failure and also rejects the acceleration decree. For the left-green side, "red lines" have been crossed.
