The reason for the decline in visitors was the weather, the city of Bern wrote in a statement. Conditions were poor at the start of the outdoor pool season and it cooled off quickly in September.
The Marzili, Weyermannshaus, Ka-We-De, Wyler and Lorraine outdoor pools recorded a total of 1,605,877 admissions by the official end of the season on September 15.
The Marzilibad recorded the most visitors (796,829), followed by the Weyerli (334,076), the Wylerbad (192,337), the Lorrainebad (69,520) and the Ka-We-De (48,193). The Eichholz sunbathing lawn was visited by 164,922 people. The Wylerbad did not open until the end of June following renovation work.
According to the city, the record day of the season was the last day of the school vacations, Sunday, August 11. A total of over 40,000 people spent this day in an outdoor pool, 20,477 of them in the Marzili.
