A large majority of cantonal finance directors reject both the popular initiative for individual taxation and the counter-proposal. They prefer joint taxation of spouses.

The Conference of Cantonal Finance Directors (FDK) recommends that the cantonal governments launch a cantonal referendum, as announced by the FDK on Tuesday. The FDK met last week as part of its annual meeting in Heiden (AR).

According to the FDK, individual taxation increases complexity for taxpayers and authorities, leads to inequalities between one-earner and two-earner couples and places a high burden on public budgets.
