A fire broke out in a room at the Kalchrain center for young adults shortly after 9.30 pm on Thursday evening. No one was injured, the Thurgau cantonal police announced on Friday.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, the statement added. The fire was quickly extinguished. The damage to property amounted to several thousand francs.

Convicted juveniles and young adults are housed at the Kalchrain Correctional Center. They are serving a court-ordered sentence in accordance with the Juvenile Penal Code or the Criminal Code.
