A small fire in the Federal Palace triggered a fire department operation early on Wednesday morning. No one was injured and the fire was quickly extinguished.

The fire alarm was sounded shortly before 7 a.m., as a spokesperson for Protection and Rescue Bern told the Keystone-SDA news agency. The building is still being ventilated.

The cause was a technical problem, said National Council President Pierre-André Page (SVP/FR) at the beginning of the session of the United Federal Assembly. There was no danger to anyone, he said.
