A fire broke out in a house in the village center of Einsiedeln SZ on Sunday evening. The population was asked to close doors and windows due to the large amount of smoke. According to initial information, no one was injured.

The fire broke out on one of the upper floors, said a spokesperson for the Schwyz cantonal police when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency. The residents had been evacuated and there were no indications of "personal injury". No one is missing either.

However, they assume that the residents will not be able to return to their homes that night. Several fire departments were deployed. It was possible to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings.
