Health insurance premiums in the canton of Zurich will rise by 4.9 percent next year. This is less than the Swiss average, where premiums will rise by 6 percent.

The average health insurance premium across all age groups in the canton of Zurich will rise from CHF 347.90 to CHF 364.80, as announced by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) on Thursday. The average increase is therefore 16.90 francs.

The biggest increase in premiums is for adults aged 26 and over. They will now pay CHF 431.60 (+5 percent), compared to the current CHF 411.10.

Young adults up to the age of 25 will pay CHF 302.60 (+4.1 percent) next year and children and young people up to the age of 18 will have to pay CHF 117.70 (+4.9 percent) in 2025.

The increase is therefore lower than in the previous year. At that time, the average health insurance premium across all age groups in the canton of Zurich was 8.3 percent, while the increase for Switzerland as a whole was 8.7 percent.
