Zurich Illegal party in an underpass in district 10 - revelers attack police

On Saturday night, hundreds of people celebrated an illegal party in Zurich's Kreis 10 district. When the Zurich city police intervened, they were attacked with bottles and stones and responded with irritants and rubber buckshot. One person was arrested.

Following a complaint about an illegal party in an underpass at the Nordstrasse/Rosengartenstrasse junction in Zurich, the city police were called out at 11.20 p.m. last night.

According to the authorities, "a group of several hundred people had gathered and attempted to block the passageways". The emergency services broke up the event and seized a music system, a generator and drinks.

In the course of the operation, bottles and stones were thrown at the police officers from the crowd, which is why irritants and rubber buckshot were used.

The group then moved on towards Wipkingerplatz and Röschibachplatz. At Röschibachplatz, the police were again pelted with bottles - and responded as before.

The situation calmed down around 0.30 am. A suspected bottle thrower was arrested. According to the city police, two patrol vehicles were damaged. At least two private cars were also damaged.
