The independent Marco Planas has been elected to the Schaffhausen City Council, i.e. the executive of the Munot town. From next year, the FDP will no longer be represented in the five-member Schaffhausen city government.

As the city of Schaffhausen announced on Sunday, Planas was elected with 5733 votes, while Stephan Schlatter from the FDP received 4259 votes. He was elected to hold the seat of his party colleague Raphaël Rohner, who did not run in the elections.

The best result in the city council elections was achieved by the incumbent mayor Peter Neukomm of the SP with 6817 votes. The second-best result was achieved by his party colleague Christine Thommen (incumbent) with 6400 votes, followed by Planas.

Katrin Bernath (GLP, previously) came fourth with 5470 votes. The incumbent Daniel Preisig (SVP, 4827 votes) received the fifth most votes.

Urs Tanner (non-party) received 2100 votes, with a few others receiving 1433 votes. The turnout was 60.07 percent, with an absolute majority of 3704 votes.

Peter Neukomm was re-elected mayor with 5451 votes. He thus clearly exceeded the absolute majority of 3910 votes.
