Berne Three people injured in carpentry fire in Meiringen

Three people were injured in a fire in Meiringen on Wednesday evening. An adjacent building also had to be evacuated due to the heavy smoke.

The fire occurred in a carpentry workshop on Lenggasse, as reported by the Bern cantonal police on Thursday. Three people had tried to extinguish the fire themselves before the emergency services arrived. They were injured in the process and had to be taken to hospital by several ambulances, according to the statement.

The joinery was severely damaged and is no longer usable in part. The Bern cantonal police have launched an investigation into the extent of the damage and the cause of the fire.
