In the event of misconduct by judges at federal courts, it should in future be possible to initiate a disciplinary investigation in addition to impeachment proceedings. This is what the parliamentary supervisory committees are calling for.

The Control Committees of the National Council and Council of States (GPK-N/GPK-S) have submitted a parliamentary initiative to this effect, as announced by the Parliamentary Services on Friday. The aim is to ensure that judges can be sanctioned for misconduct. At present, only removal from office is possible.
In future, the CPC wants to introduce a supervisory body external to the courts that is independent of political influence. This is intended to ensure that judges comply with their official duties, according to the report. "This could be a so-called judicial court, as is already the case in various cantons."
