2181 voters approved the framework credit, 881 were against it. The turnout was 42.9 percent, as announced by the municipality of Langnau on Sunday.

This means that the definitive construction project for flood protection on the Langnau Mitte and Ost sections of the Ilfis can now be drawn up. According to the voting message, past flood events and the updated hazard map have shown that there is a need for action in this regard.

At the same time, the municipality of Langnau also wants to define measures for the ecological upgrading of the watercourse. After deducting subsidies from the canton and the federal government, it expects net costs of around CHF 130,000, which will effectively fall to the municipality.

The implementation of the measures was not part of the referendum proposal. According to the current schedule, the people of Langnau will be able to decide on this in 2027.
