Lightning struck a two-family house in Uetendorf on Wednesday afternoon and caused a fire. The attic burned out. No one was injured. According to the police, the building was no longer habitable for the time being.

The police were alerted to the lightning strike and subsequent fire in the house on Meisenweg shortly before 3.55 p.m., according to the Bern cantonal police. When the emergency services arrived on the scene, flames were shooting out of the roof of the house.

The fire department was deployed with around 64 firefighters. According to the statement, they quickly brought the fire under control and were able to extinguish it. Three adults and two children who were in the building escaped to safety outside on their own. The residents of the house found shelter elsewhere thanks to private individuals and the municipality.
