As announced by the municipal care and nursing home Malters AG on Wednesday, the new building is being realized according to plans by the Lucerne architectural firm Huber Waser Mühlebach and Uniola AG Landschaftsarchitektur from Zurich. Their project came out on top in a two-stage competition.
According to the press release, the retirement and nursing home will have 84 single rooms after the extension, 25 more than before. Twelve rooms are now reserved for the dementia residential group. The remaining rooms will be divided into three care groups, each with 24 places.
The 36-year-old existing building will now offer apartments for assisted living. Spitex Malters and the "Immomänt" dementia day care center will also be located at the new site.
The investment volume for the expansion and conversion is limited to CHF 50 million, as stated on the retirement and nursing home's website.
