Bern Man caught after car chase with police in Lyss

After a car chase with the police, the wanted driver was caught in Lyss on Saturday morning. He had previously evaded a check in Biel, fled at excessive speed and was driving the wrong way. This resulted in a grazing collision with another vehicle on the A6 and collisions with traffic control posts.

The fugitive on foot in Lyss was eventually apprehended by various police officers and a police dog, according to the Bern cantonal police. The heavily damaged white getaway car had previously been found on the upper Aareweg in Lyss. The police are now looking for witnesses to the events, which began in Biel at around 6.15 a.m. on Saturday morning.
