A man was seriously injured with a knife in the city of Lucerne on Sunday. The police were able to arrest the suspected perpetrator.

According to a statement issued by Lucerne police on Thursday, a 23-year-old Syrian man was found in Pilatusstrasse on Sunday with cuts and stab wounds.

The victim had previously been attacked and injured by an unknown person near the Säli school building on Bruchstrasse, the police said. The murder weapon was recovered near the scene of the crime. The police later arrested the suspected perpetrator, a 30-year-old Mexican man.

According to the police, the victim has since been able to leave hospital.
