A 36-year-old man was seriously injured by a stranger during an altercation in Wil SG on Friday evening. The suspected perpetrator is on the run, as the cantonal police announced on Saturday.

The victim was injured with a sharp object on Kirchweg St. Peter. People present were able to separate the two men, whereupon the unknown man fled. The 36-year-old was taken to hospital. The police are investigating the background to the crime.
