Daniel Albertin was elected to the municipal council in 1994 and became mayor of the former municipality of Mon in 2002. From 2011, he led the municipalities of the Albula Valley, including the later landslide village of Brienz/Brinzauls, through the merger process. In 2015, Albertin became the first mayor of the newly merged valley municipality of Albula/Alvra, as the latter announced on Wednesday.
"Together with my colleagues on the board and the employees of Albula/Alvra, I have been able to make a contribution over the past ten years to forming a sustainable municipality from seven different groups," the mayor is quoted as saying in the press release.
The many tasks surrounding the Brienz landslide and the evacuation of Brienz/Brinzauls have shown that the municipality works and that cohesion plays an important role. "A new whole has emerged from seven parts," concludes Albertin with satisfaction.
On January 1, 2025, he will hand over his official duties to a successor. The election to the municipal presidency will take place in the fall.
