Political parties Melchior Buchs to take over the party presidency of the FDP Baselland
The party leadership of the FDP Baselland has nominated Melchior Buchs as successor to the outgoing party president Ferdinand Pulver. The election of the successor is to take place at the party conference on September 5, as the party announced on Friday morning.

Buchs was most recently active in the municipality of Reinach BL. From 2016 to 2018, he was the municipal councillor responsible for meetings, culture and sport. He served as mayor from 2018 to 2024.
This office is now held by Ferdinand Pulver. Shortly after his re-election to the party leadership in March, he announced that he would be stepping down in September of this year - due to his candidacy for the municipal presidency in Reinach.
If Buchs is also elected in Reinach at the party conference on September 5, it would be a kind of office swap between the two men. In the party's press release, Pulver expressed his conviction that Buchs "will take the FDP Baselland forward".
