Die Mitte wants to win a second seat in the cantonal government in the canton of Solothurn in the general elections on 9 March 2025. Kolly, who has been in office since 2021, declared her willingness to stand for re-election in advance.
The newly nominated 54-year-old candidate Kupper is the managing director of the farmers' association. The party leadership described the man from Laupersdorf as very well connected. He is close to the people and can forge compromises.
Two of the five seats on the cantonal council are vacant in the general election. Brigit Wyss (Greens) and Remo Ankli (FDP) are no longer standing. According to their own statements, the Greens and the FDP want to defend the vacant seats. It remains to be seen who they will field in the race.
Peter Hodel (FDP) and Susanne Schaffner (SP) will run again. The SVP has so far failed in all attempts to win a seat on the executive.
