According to a count by Keystone-SDA, more than 1,500 people gathered in front of the entrance to the Vaud parliament. Several politicians were booed and jeered as they left the building. Some MPs left the building accompanied by police officers. The three public service unions castigated the government for its "policy of (non-)communication" and "its will not to negotiate".

Tuesday marked the fifth day of mobilization of public and semi-public services since this autumn. Thousands of people took part in several demonstrations. A "total strike" has been announced for Thursday.

The government of the canton of Vaud presented its draft budget for 2026 on September 24. This envisages a deficit of CHF 331 million and austerity measures amounting to CHF 305 million. State employees are also affected.
