In future, companies in the procurement sector will only have to submit an equal pay analysis for contracts awarded by the Canton of Basel-Stadt if they have 50 or more employees. Smaller companies will now only have to complete a short questionnaire on equal pay, as announced by the Basel government on Tuesday.

The new regulation is to apply from October 1. The government is thus promptly implementing a demand from the Grand Council - namely from a motion passed by the SVP.

Until now, companies with ten or more employees were required to carry out an equal pay analysis using Logib, the federal government's standard analysis tool. However, the canton carries out regular spot checks after the conclusion of procurement contracts.
