There will be no mushroom inspection in Biel/Bienne in 2024. Due to a shortage of specialists, the city was unable to find any, as it announced on Monday.

Biel usually offers mushroom inspections from August to October. In 2023, it was already proving extremely difficult to recruit suitable people for the voluntary mushroom inspection offered by the city of Biel, as the city wrote in a press release.

Despite an intensive search both internally and in specialist circles, it was no longer possible to recruit the minimum number of mushroom inspectors required for the size of the city of Biel for 2024, the statement continued.

As a result, the city is forced to stop offering mushroom inspections. People who would like to have their mushrooms checked can switch to other mushroom checkpoints in the region.
