The Obwalden cantonal police arrested three young burglars on Saturday morning. They stole various items from vehicles in an underground parking garage in Sarnen and broke open several stairwell doors, according to the police.

The youths ransacked several unlocked vehicles in the underground parking garage of the Jänzipark development in Sarnen, police said in a statement on Monday. They then broke open several stairwell doors to the apartment buildings and searched the basement.
A resident finally alerted the police. The patrol was able to arrest two of the perpetrators as they left the underground parking garage, according to the statement. The third perpetrator tried to flee, but was tracked down by a police dog. He was also arrested.
The perpetrators - two Swiss and one French citizen - had traveled from western Switzerland by train. They will be reported to the police.
The police were able to seize criminal property. This has yet to be assigned to the victims.
