An explosion and subsequent fire occurred in an apartment building in Reinach BL on Saturday afternoon. One person was slightly injured and taken to hospital by the emergency services for examination.

As reported by the Basel-Landschaft police on Saturday evening, the explosion caused "widespread debris". Several people reported the detonation to the police on Maienweg.
When the emergency services arrived, they noticed heavy smoke in the apartment in question on the second floor. The fire department was able to quickly locate the source of the fire and extinguish it immediately.
The apartment was badly damaged by the fire and is no longer habitable. The cause of the fire is still unclear and is being investigated by specialists from the Basel-Landschaft police.
