The Fribourg cantonal police have solved a series of over one hundred thefts committed in cellars in the Bulle FR region between May and August 2025, according to a statement.

Two suspects have been arrested and another is in custody. All three will be reported to the relevant authorities, the police announced on Thursday.

Between spring and summer 2025, there were numerous break-ins and attempted break-ins in Bulle and La Tour-de-Trême. Several vehicles were also broken into.

The stolen items included military and airsoft weapons, ammunition, electronic devices, scooters and food. In total, the police received 54 reports of theft and damage to property.

Three people arrested

Investigations by the criminal investigation department led to the arrest of a 17-year-old man from the region at the end of August 2025. Investigators confiscated stolen items, airsoft weapons, narcotics and burglary tools from his home. The teenager later confessed to over a hundred burglaries and attempted burglaries as well as the theft of and damage to two vehicles.

A 26-year-old man from the region was also identified as an accomplice and arrested. Both are in custody and will be charged with property offenses and violations of weapons and narcotics laws, among other things.

In the course of the investigation, the authorities also discovered a third person involved, a 22-year-old from the canton of Fribourg. He is alleged to have been involved in the fencing of the weapons sold to France and is currently in custody.

In this context, the police would like to remind everyone that weapons and ammunition must always be stored safely and separately from each other - cellar compartments are not considered suitable places for storage.
