The stimulus program to promote childcare that complements family life will continue until the end of 2026. Parliament has approved the extension. What happens after that remains to be seen, partly due to the federal government's tight financial situation.

By 110 votes to 76 with 6 abstentions and 111 votes to 76 with 5 abstentions respectively, the National Council, as the second chamber, said yes on Wednesday to the continued financial aid for supplementary family childcare, specifically to a corresponding federal law and a financial resolution. The Council of States' Committee for Science, Education and Culture (WBK-S) had requested the extension of the federal childcare subsidies.

This committee has been working for some time on a definitive regulation for daycare funding. Until this is in place, the extension of the impulse program is intended to ensure that money continues to flow. The current regulation expires at the end of the year.
