Health Parliament will probably soon set the rates for retirement centers
The left-wing parties in Zurich's municipal council are calling for a shift in authority. In future, parliament should decide on the fees charged by retirement homes. The decision has been postponed

Until now, the city government has set the fees for the city's health centers. But a majority of the municipal council demanded an end to this on Wednesday evening. They want to remove this authority from the city council. Instead, parliament should decide.
The left-wing parties justified this by arguing that those people who are affected by the tax increases should also have a say. Such far-reaching decisions should not be left to the city council alone.
The GLP, FDP, SVP and Die Mitte countered that the current system worked and that the municipal council should not take on any tasks that the administration could also do. The SVP had originally supported the request, but changed its position.
