The passenger of a speeding e-scooter was seriously injured in a collision with parked cars in Villmergen AG on Wednesday evening. The driver also remained unconscious after the accident, as reported by the Aargau cantonal police on Thursday.

At 9 p.m., third parties observed an e-scooter apparently traveling too fast in Villmergen. When the young driver was joined by a passenger, the two crashed into two parked cars.

The two men fell and were left unconscious. The ambulance crew alerted by third parties found that the 22-year-old driver, who soon regained consciousness, had no injuries. The 20-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Speed 59 instead of 20

During an on-site check, the e-scooter reached speeds of up to 59 km/h instead of the permitted 20 km/h, as the police report. The driver of the e-scooter may have been under the influence of narcotics. A blood and urine sample was taken from him and he had to surrender his driving license.
