An 82-year-old resident was injured in a fire in an apartment building in Oberwil near Zug on Thursday evening. She suffered smoke inhalation and had to be taken to hospital. Eight other residents were temporarily evacuated.

The fire was reported shortly after 7.45 p.m., according to the Zug police on Friday morning. The city's volunteer fire department quickly extinguished the fire.

The evacuees were able to return to their apartments after the fire was extinguished. According to the police, the 82-year-old woman's apartment is no longer habitable for the time being due to the heavy smoke and soot particles. Replacement accommodation has been organized for the woman.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is under investigation. The police forensic service secured the evidence.
