On 1 July, a teacher at Oetwil-Geroldswil elementary school was dismissed for "possibly inappropriate behavior" towards children. This was reported by "20 Minuten".
The teacher was then dismissed without notice on July 8. School president Daniela Kugler confirmed that the teacher had exceeded the pedagogically permissible limits of physical contact.
"The closeness that the teacher himself sought with the children clearly exceeds the level of pedagogically permissible physical contact and represents a considerable overstepping of boundaries towards the children," said Kogler.
Already a case at the end of June
In order to protect the children concerned, no specific behavior was published. However, as there were no indications of sexual acts, the school decided not to press charges.
"Once the transgressions had been proven, no other decision was conceivable. The physical integrity of our pupils is inviolable," Kogler is quoted as saying.
Lessons are guaranteed until the summer vacations and beyond. The school is in close contact with the parents of the affected class.
At the end of June, "transgressive behavior by a teacher" was reported at a school in the city of Zurich. The person concerned is currently in custody.
