The delays in the renovation and expansion work at Lausanne station are due to several factors, according to the parliamentary supervisory authority. The cooperation between the federal government and SBB was "inadequate", but the shortcomings have since been partially rectified.

The National Council's Control Committee (GPK-N) identified several shortcomings in the project management, as reported by the parliamentary services on Tuesday. In particular, it identified shortcomings in strategic cooperation and in the transfer of data between SBB and the Federal Office of Transport (FOT).

In addition, SBB's internal quality management was "partially inadequate", according to the GPK-N. It made four recommendations to the Federal Council, in which it still sees a need for action. Overall, however, project management has "improved considerably" since 2023.

In March 2023, it was announced that the construction work at Lausanne station would take four and a half years longer than planned and would not be completed until 2037.
