Switzerland - China Report sees evidence of pressure on Uyghurs and Tibetans
China is very likely exerting pressure on Uyghurs and Tibetans living in Switzerland. This is stated in a report by the Federal Council to Parliament. In some cases, these people are being hindered in exercising their fundamental rights.

The Federal Council adopted the report on Wednesday. The paper was based on a research report by the University of Basel, commissioned by the federal government.
According to the Federal Council's statement, the report states that China "very probably encourages Tibetans and Uyghurs in Switzerland to spy on and put pressure on members of their own communities."
In the report, the Federal Council recommends examining additional measures for protection against transnational repression. This involves prevention, coordination and awareness-raising. Activities such as spying and attempts to exert pressure should be identified and it should be possible to respond appropriately.
