Ritter: "I'm going into the hearings well prepared"

Federal Council candidate Markus Ritter wants to show in the hearings how he would work as a Federal Councillor.

After Martin Pfister, it's the turn of the FDP's centrist candidate Markus Ritter. He is going into the hearings well prepared, he told media representatives in the Federal Palace on Tuesday afternoon before the talks.

Ritter's first hearing was with the FDP. Shortly beforehand, he told Keystone-SDA Video that he wanted to show what he knew and could do and that he was ready to take on responsibility. He went into the hearings well prepared for each parliamentary group. "We have prepared ourselves very specifically."

The members of the parliamentary groups should be able to get an idea of how he would work as a Federal Councillor and how he would seek cooperation. The FDP is certainly interested in foreign policy issues, said Ritter, as well as defense, the economy and presumably also the situation surrounding tariffs in the USA.

On Tuesday, the SVP and GLP will also hold hearings with the two centrist candidates for the Federal Council. Next week it will be the turn of the SP and the Greens. The Federal Council election to replace centrist Federal Councillor Viola Amherd will take place on March 12.
